SimplexGrinnell Supporting Employee’s Lifelong Dream to Reach the Top of the World Company’s 11,500 Employees Following Co-worker’s Assault on World’s Tallest Peak

BOCA RATON, FLA. (May 11, 2007) - Demonstrating its strong commitment to helping employees excel in their professional and personal lives, SimplexGrinnell is supporting a fire sprinkler installer from its San Francisco branch office as he fulfills a lifelong quest to conquer Mt. Everest.

If the ascent goes according to plan, Curt Myers, a pipe fitter who has worked for SimplexGrinnell since 1997, is expected to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak (at 29,035 feet) around May 19. An accomplished climber and highly regarded employee of the North American leader in fire and life-safety industry, Myers has already successfully tackled four of the Seven Summits – the highest points on each of the seven continents.

“When Curt reaches the summit of Mt. Everest, it’ll be as if each and every member of the SimplexGrinnell family is up there with him,” said company president Dean Seavers. “Curt’s character, perseverance and drive to succeed exemplify our core Tyco values and what it means to be an employee of SimplexGrinnell. All of us extend Curt our heartfelt best wishes and, most importantly, wish him a safe journey as he pursues his dream.”

A Passion for Climbing
Before embarking on his 7,500 mile trek from San Francisco to Mt. Everest, Myers, a Danville, Calif., resident, commented, “Climbing, hiking and mountaineering are my passions. I'm the guy who likes doing things other people can't, or won't, do. Thanks to the amazing support of my employer, my dream is now becoming a reality. I look forward to proudly raising the SimplexGrinnell flag at the top of the world.”

Myers’ climb team is composed of hiking enthusiasts from all across the globe, including people from the United States, Russia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, Armenia, and four guides.

SimplexGrinnell employees will be kept apprised of the status of Myers’ climb through a number of communication vehicles, including emails, newsletters, website postings and by viewing Myers/SimplexGrinnell’s SimplexGrinnell plans to coordinate “Summit Celebration” parties for employees when Myers reaches the highest point in the world.

SimplexGrinnell is financially supporting Myers’ expedition because it uniquely aligns with the company’s dedication to employee excellence, community involvement and customer commitment. Like many of his co-workers, Myers is actively involved in his community. He is a volunteer firefighter for the Alameda County Fire Department, and a certified paramedic, rope rescue systems technician and HazMat specialist.
