SIMPLEXGRINNELL OFFERING ALARMEYE® VIDEO SMOKE AND FLAME DETECTION SYSTEM
Advanced Technology Strengthens Fire Detection and Alarm Capabilities
BOCA RATON, Fla. (May 10, 2010) – SimplexGrinnell, a leader in fire and life-safety systems and services, is strengthening its solution capabilities by offering the AlarmEye® Video Image Smoke and Flame Detection (VISFD) System.
By adding the UL-listed AlarmEye system to its product portfolio, SimplexGrinnell can provide video detection and special application solutions to meet increasing customer needs and requirements for this emerging technology. The AlarmEye technology is designed for use in large open spaces such as warehouses, aircraft hangars, exhibition centers, shopping malls, stadiums, and special applications such as tunnels and industrial plants.
The AlarmEye system’s advanced technology detects smoke and flame through real-time surveillance video and provides fire source and location verification. Utilizing infrared illuminators and sensors, the Alarm Eye system can operate continuously – day and night and under any lighting conditions. It is capable of detecting obstructed fire, smoke in total darkness, and transparent flames. The system even provides the sensitivity to detect smoke particles before they can be visually detected by the naked eye. Video detection information, after being captured by the AlarmEye system, is sent to a fire alarm or video monitoring system for viewing by system operators.
In addition to its leading-edge detection capabilities, AlarmEye technology offers the flexibility to be used as a standalone product or in a distributed system. It can easily be integrated with the flagship Simplex® 4100U fire alarm control platform to provide a comprehensive detection solution.
“The AlarmEye Video Image Smoke and Fire Detection System is a powerful tool to help our customers protect life and property in challenging environments and specialty applications,” says John Haynes, Director of Fire Alarm Marketing for SimplexGrinnell. “The system’s infrared illuminator and sensor can detect smoke day or night, and its resistance to interferences from moving objects, artificial light, arc welding, and steam can help to reduce potential false alarms.”
