Refrigerated warehouses present unique fire protection challenges which demand a specialized sprinkler solution. One solution that can eliminate in-rack sprinkler protection is called Quell™. SimplexGrinnell is a licensed provider of Quell - a revolutionary performance-based technology for fire sprinkler system design. The patent pending Quell technology was created for a broad range of applications, including cold storage environments, such as frozen food storage facilities and unheated warehouses. For the first time, there is now a dry sprinkler solution that does not rely on in-rack sprinklers or anti-freeze-which are historically prone to damage and difficult to maintain. Quell-designed sprinkler systems accommodate higher storage heights than traditional dry pipe sprinkler system protection as defined in NFPA 13 (Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems). A Quell-designed system does not require in-rack sprinklers to be installed in freezers and coolers, thus avoiding the significant cost of accidental damage that often occurs to in-rack piping.

Quell-designed sprinkler systems are available only through trained Quell licensees like SimplexGrinnell. SimplexGrinnell can provide system planning and configuration, and with 140 plus office locations, the ability to provide installation with a team that's likely to service your system after the installation is completed. We also conduct ongoing test, inspection and preventive maintenance of Quell-designed systems installed by ourselves or other firms.
