AUTOCALL® 900 Series addressable smoke and heat detectors continuously measure smoke density and report this as an analog value to an AUTOCALL TFX control panel. The control panel uses software algorithms to analyze the value for pre-alarm, alarm, trouble or service conditions. AUTOCALL TFX panels provide continuous detector sensitivity monitoring and automatically compensate for environmental influences. Alarm and pre-alarm threshold smoke levels can be defined for each detection device and automatically or manually adjusted based on time of day, day of week, etc.
If the detector's average value exceeds a preset threshold, a trouble signal at the control panel alerts the operator that the detector requires cleaning and or maintenance, thus avoiding nuisance alarms. Prior to an actual alarm condition, a lower threshold pre-alarm trouble condition alerts the operator to a pending alarm.
Each detector is efficiently addressed with a microchip card ("Smartcard") and label carrier. The address and commissioning date is stored in an EEPROM on a separate Smartcard address key, and the label carrier identifies the detector address. Programming is performed using the 900HP stand-alone programmer or the 900CP CONSYS programmer.
During mounting of the detector head onto the permanent base, the Smartcard and label carrier are transferred to the base, where they remain even if the detector head is removed. As an added convenience, the label carrier address is visible from below, eliminating the need to climb a ladder, remove the detector head, or read coded switches to determine that unit's address. Cost-effective routine maintenance and testing are performed from the floor. For convenient testing, 900 Series detector bases feature a push button that allows detector heads to be mounted in a "park" position, and wiring to be tested without removing the detector head from the base. A separate terminal provides a voltage output to the detector's LED, which flashes every 10 seconds under normal standby conditions. When an alarm threshold is exceeded, the LED lights steadily.
