The self-contained FIREQUEST™ 300 system from SimplexGrinnell provides a basic fire alarm solution with two Style B (Class B) or D (Class A) input detection zones and one common alarm Style Y (Class B) output zone.
With over 12 plug-in optional function boards, the FIREQUEST 300 system is both expandable and highly flexible. The zone interface board (ZIB) supplies connections for four dual initiating boards (DIB). As each DIB provides two initiating zone loops, a ZIB provides eight initiating zones in a single bus slot. With its capacity for seven ZIBs, the FIREQUEST 300 system provides up to 58 zones.
Zones on the DIB may be configured for either alarm or sprinkler supervisory operation with Class A or B wiring schemes, and can be non-silenceable. Each zone has a disconnect switch used for testing. With the switch activated, a device in that zone is placed in alarm and the corresponding zone LED will illuminate without causing a system alarm or operating any outputs. Adding the alarm verification adapter (AVA) to the common function board (CFB) or dual initiation board (DIB) provides a means to reduce nuisance alarms and monitor detector stability.
Additional system function boards provide a mastercoder, sprinkler supervisory monitoring, and remote signal transmission. A remote alarm, verify and trouble annunciator output is provided for each detection zone. All audible alarm output circuits are supervised for open and short circuit conditions. A short circuit causes the panel to inhibit or disconnect that output until the short has been removed. Circuits monitoring sprinkler water flow switches can be field-programmed as non-silenceable, per UL Standard 864.
The FIREQUEST 300 system provides a means to comply with NFPA requirements for sprinkler supervisory conditions and supervision of auxiliary control functions as required by the NFPA Life Safety Code 101.
