Application - Network Window
The BACpac™ Portal is best suited to provide a Building network window to the fire alarm
system activity. The standard default operation is set to allow up to 600 fire panel point
status changes to be viewed by BACnet devices. The network cannot affect the fire panel operation
because the Portal and the fire panel is configured to transfer data only one way (except for
circuit supervision). Any circuit interruptions between the fire panel and the portal will
activate a port trouble condition at the fire panel.

Fire Alarm Conditions to Management Workstations
The portal acts as a translator to the network so compatible BACnet devices can view fire alarm and
trouble activity. Workstations can be used by facility personnel as remote displays to access whenever
a condition requires investigation.

Smoke Alarm Status to HVAC System Controllers
HVAC smoke management strategies can be performed using the portal as a serial interface to the
BACnet compatible HVAC controller. The fire panel is configured to provide smoke status as required
by the engineered design. For example, a group of addressable smoke detectors can be grouped into
floor zones at the fire panel. BACnet objects provide the alarm status to the HVAC controllers
for action.
