The Halo™ Infant Security System is a high-end solution designed to help prevent unauthorized removal of children from hospital birthing centers or pediatric units. It provides the ultimate in portal exit protection, sounding an identifiable alarm when a child wearing the unique radio transponder is leaving the monitored area.
The Halo transponder itself is more advanced than simple "cut band" technology, which allows a transponder to be slipped off the infant's arm without alarming if the band remains intact. In contrast to "cut band" alarm systems, the Halo transponder actually senses contact with the infant's skin and generates an alarm if it falls off or is removed.
If an alarm event occurs, the PC-based nurse console displays a graphical floor plan of the facility, pinpointing the location of door alarms as well as the identity and last known position of the infant whose transponder has been removed. The Halo software stores event information in a historical database that can be used to track staff performance and retrieve data on specific events.
For additional security, custom Elevator Protection Kits are available for the Halo system. Sensors mounted in the elevator car detect the presence of a child wearing a transponder and disable the car until the child exits or a staff member bypasses the system.
