LAS VEGAS, NEV. (Jun 6, 2005)-SimplexGrinnell, a business unit of Tyco Fire & Security and a leader in fire and life-safety systems and services, will announce at this week's NFPA World Safety Conference & Expo an expansion of its commitment to advance the fire protection industry through company-sponsored education and training programs.
Building on an already strong track record in educational leadership, SimplexGrinnell plans to reach out even more broadly to the industry, sharing its wealth of institutional experience and organizing events, seminars and programs where its fire and life-safety specialists can present the latest in technology, codes, standards and industry best practices.
"With a 200-year heritage in fire and life safety and superb experience in providing high-quality systems and services, SimplexGrinnell is uniquely positioned to meet the industry's need for knowledge and information about fire protection," says Dave Baer, vice president of marketing. "This initiative is vitally important, and indicative of the leadership role that SimplexGrinnell plays in the industry. We look forward to the opportunity to deliver a wide array of educational events and training programs throughout North America."
Building on the Road Show Series
The SimplexGrinnell Fire and Life-Safety Road Show Series, now in its third year, is a focal point of the effort to advance the industry through education and training. The road shows are a series of symposiums and technology expos for industry professionals interested in code updates, technology advances and emerging practices in fire and life safety. The 2005 Road Show Series - "What's New. What's Next. What's Vital." - will hit 33 cities in the United States and Canada by year's end.
SimplexGrinnell also serves the architectural and engineering community with its A&E Partnership, a national team of fire and life-safety systems professionals focused on providing applications and specification services. In March, SimplexGrinnell held its inaugural Corporate Advisory Council, a gathering that brought key customers and industry representatives together to share insights and ideas on products, services and important issues in fire and life safety.
Expanding the Education Initiative
In the coming weeks and months, SimplexGrinnell will introduce additional education and training programs and customized seminars for engineers, architects, building owners, facility managers, local fire officials, and electrical and general contractors. At the same time, SimplexGrinnell will accelerate its efforts to participate and present at industry codes and standards organizations.
To carry out and support its education and training initiatives, SimplexGrinnell calls upon the experience and knowledge of a team of specialists, most with over two decades of experience in the fire and life-safety industry. Some of the topics they cover include: fire detection; occupant and fire department notification; fire sprinkler; fire suppression; special hazards fire protection; codes and standards; and testing, inspection and maintenance of life-safety systems.
