SIMPLEXGRINNELL® TO KICK OFF 2006 FIRE AND LIFE-SAFETY ROAD SHOW SERIES IN ANAHEIM

More Than 8,000 Have Now Attended; Select Events on This Year’s Schedule Co-located with NFPA® Professional Development Seminars

BOCA RATON, FLA. (March 22, 2006) - Having drawn over 8,000 attendees the past three years to its fire and life-safety seminars, SimplexGrinnell will be in Anaheim the last week of March to begin an annual road show series that enables industry professionals to learn about the latest developments in fire protection technology, codes and practices.

The first event in the 2006 Fire and Life-Safety Road Show Series is scheduled for March 28-29 at the Anaheim Marriott Suites.

Now entering its fourth year, the road show series – a staple of SimplexGrinnell’s commitment to raising awareness and bettering the industry – is popular among engineers, architects, building owners, facility managers, local fire officials, contractors and other professionals with fire and life-safety responsibilities.

"Safety is a top priority in today’s world for businesses, institutions and government entities,” says Dean Seavers, president of SimplexGrinnell. “Our goal with the road show series is to share SimplexGrinnell’s knowledge, insight and experience, in an effort to raise the overall quality of protection in the industry. We’re proud of the ongoing commitment to education that SimplexGrinnell makes as the leader in the industry, and honored that so many professionals attend our seminars to further their knowledge and understanding of fire and life-safety protection."

The 2006 road show series, built around the theme New Horizons in Life Safety, will address a number of critical topics:

  • The convergence of fire and security technology.
  • Trends in emergency notification
  • Advances in fire sprinkler and suppression technology
  • Corrosion concerns in sprinkler piping and mitigation options
  • Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire and life-safety systems
  • New product and migration strategies
  • NFPA code updates
  • NFPA 731: increasing the reliability of electronic security installations

In addition to presentations on those topics, the Anaheim road show will feature live demonstrations of integrated fire and security equipment, including the Simplex® 4100U fire alarm system, Software House® C•CURE® 800/8000 security management software, and American Dynamics® video systems. The Tyco Fire Products mobile valve demonstration unit, housed inside a 32-foot stock car trailer, will also be on site.

Anaheim Symposium Co-located with NFPA Professional Development Seminars

SimplexGrinnell has made an important enhancement to this year’s road show series that will strengthen the overall program. Several road shows, including the opening event in Anaheim, are being held in the same location where NFPA is conducting professional development seminars. Those attending the NFPA seminars will have the opportunity, after completing their course work during the day, to attend a networking dinner and SimplexGrinnell fire and life-safety sessions in the evening.

In addition, select content at this year’s road show series will be presented by NFPA speakers. In Anaheim, Wayne D. Moore, a principal with Hughes Associates, Inc., a leading fire protection engineering and code-consulting firm, will conduct two sessions on behalf of NFPA. He will discuss proposed changes to NFPA 72: National Fire Alarm Code® and provide an overview of the newly released NFPA 731: Standard for the Installation of Electronic Premises Security Systems. A recognized industry authority on fire protection and fire alarm systems, Moore currently serves as chairman of the National Fire Alarm Code Technical Correlating Committee. He is the editor of the 1993 edition and co-editor of the 1996, 1999 and 2002 editions of the National Fire Alarm Code Handbook.

All SimplexGrinnell road shows are offered free of charge, and attendees in the United States receive a certificate that can go toward professional education credits.
