ORLANDO, FLA. (June 4, 2006) - SimplexGrinnell is advancing the capabilities of its
flagship Simplex 4100U fire alarm system with the introduction of the InfoAlarm™ Command
Center - an expanded large-screen panel display and intuitive user interface that can help
speed the response to emergencies.
Designed to facilitate quick, easy operation in emergency situations, the Simplex 4100U InfoAlarm
Command Center enhances fire and life-safety protection by expanding the amount of information
that can be displayed on the panel. The multi-line display and the intuitive soft control keys
enable system users, maintenance personnel and first responders to access clear, easy-to-understand
information that can identify the location, nature and severity of an emergency or fire alarm
system condition.
Plus, customers can further support fire protection and command operations by placing remote,
compact-sized InfoAlarm command centers in building entrances, lobbies and other key locations.
"Today more than ever, access to information via the fire alarm system is critical in an emergency,
whether it's a fire or other threatening situation," says John Haynes, Director of Product Line
Marketing at SimplexGrinnell. "That's why the Simplex 4100U InfoAlarm Command Center is such
an important advancement. In simplest terms, it gives system operators and emergency responders
more 'at-a-glance' information about an event, without having to scroll or push buttons. As a
result, the response can be more rapid and accurate."
Operating Flexibility, Easy Upgrades
The Simplex 4100U Fire Detection and Alarm Platform, a premier high-end network system that
combines excellent fire detection, information management and integration capabilities with
lower costs of installation and maintenance, is installed in over 50,000 locations, including
scores of hospitals, schools, college campuses, commercial complexes and industrial facilities.
In addition to the extended information display, the InfoAlarm Command Center, one of the first
products listed to meet the new UL 864 fire alarm equipment testing standard, gives the Simplex
4100U system added flexibility to meet application-specific customer requirements. The key
features and benefits include:
- Easy, cost-effective upgrades: SimplexGrinnell preserves customer investments
by offering an affordable upgrade kit that enables previously installed Simplex
41000U systems to readily be equipped with an InfoAlarm Command Center, by replacing
only the panel display. The upgrade kit also provides the 4100U system with expanded
point capacity.
- Remote panel option: As many as 10 InfoAlarm Command Centers can be supported
by a single Simplex 4100U panel. The low-profile remote displays are unobtrusive and
can easily be mounted on most any surface.
- 'On the fly' instant-switch language selection: This feature addresses the expanding
market requirements for dual-language interfaces. In situations where system operators
may need text in languages other than English, the InfoAlarm Command Center can display
an alternate language with a simple push of a button.
- Site map: This feature allows a bitmap image of a facility's site plan to be displayed
on the command center, thereby enabling the location of a fire, emergency or alarm system
condition to be shown graphically. The site plan is also helpful in complying with unique
customer applications or market - specific requirements.
- Watermark background: This feature allows a custom gray-scale watermark background
image, such as a company name or logo, to be displayed.
- Custom activity display choices: This feature enables the information that's
displayed on the InfoAlarm Command Center to be configured in a number of ways,
thereby helping the fire alarm system meet requirements of local Authorities Having
Jurisdiction (AHJs) or customer-specific operating needs.
