ORLANDO, FLA. (June 4, 2006) - SimplexGrinnell, a leader in fire and life safety, will introduce
at this week's NFPA World Safety Conference & Expo the customer Learning Resource Center - a newly
developed web site that centralizes in one location the wide array of programs and activities the
company organizes to share its knowledge with the industry.
The Learning Resource Center will enable customers and industry
professionals to quickly and easily link to information about a multitude of SimplexGrinnell programs and
events, including the Fire and Life-Safety Road Show Series; locally-based seminars and lunch and learn
sessions; key customer communications; corporate presentations; customer visitor centers; and web-based
training on topics such as the proper use of fire extinguishers.
"The establishment of the Learning Resource Center furthers the SimplexGrinnell commitment to sharing
our wealth of knowledge and experience with the industry," says Dave Baer, Vice President of Marketing.
"We're proud of our educational leadership, and honored that business owners, facility managers, local
fire officials, architects, engineers, contractors and other industry professionals see SimplexGrinnell
as an important resource for learning about fire and life safety."
Michael Lohr, Director of Service Marketing at SimplexGrinnell, envisions the Learning Resource Center
as a far-reaching, one-stop web portal for fire and life-safety information that will feature not only
SimplexGrinnell content, but also links to industry organizations such as NFPA and NFSA and other
pertinent material. "We want this to be a comprehensive repository that people view as the place to go
for relevant information, rather than spend their time searching throughout the Internet."
The key elements of the Learning Resource Center include the following:
- Corporate Road Shows: The annual SimplexGrinnell Fire and Life-Safety Road Show Series
enables industry professionals to learn about the latest developments in fire protection
technology, codes and practices. The 2006 road show series addresses a number of critical
topics, including the convergence of fire and security technology; trends in emergency
notification; and inspection, testing and maintenance of fire and life-safety systems.
- District Seminars: The SimplexGrinnell district offices often sponsor full-day fire and
life-safety seminars for professionals in their local area. Much like the corporate-sponsored
road shows, the district seminars address topics and issues of interest in fire and life safety.
- Lunch and Learn Seminars: Local SimplexGrinnell offices organize special lunchtime seminars
for engineers, facility managers and other professionals to cover general fire and life-safety
topics or issues of particular interest in a given locality.
- Customer Visitor Centers: Customers and business executives can get real-life demonstrations
of the latest in fire and life-safety technology and solutions at special visitor and briefing
centers in Westminster, Massachusetts and Boca Raton, Florida.
- Web-based Training: SimplexGrinnell is in the initial stages of a program to offer web-based
training to help educate customers about important fire and life-safety issues. As many as 20% of
SimplexGrinnell's customers have expressed interest in web training, as a convenient alternative
to traditional face-to-face instruction. The first module to be offered is focused on fire
extinguisher training; other training programs will be developed over time.
- Customer Communications: The Center provides links to a number of customer communications,
including the LifeAlarm® Lines newsletter for the architectural and engineering community;
white papers; industry articles; case studies; and news releases.
