NEW TECHNOLOGY OFFERS SIMPLE, AFFORDABLE MIGRATION TO ADVANCED SIMPLEX® 4100U FIRE ALARM PLATFORM

SimplexGrinnell Showcasing Migration Solution for Older Simplex 2120 Systems at 2007 NFPA® Exposition

BOSTON, MA. (June 3, 2007) - Furthering its long-standing commitment to stand by customers for the life of their systems, SimplexGrinnell introduces a new technology solution that enables a venerable family of older Simplex systems to be easily migrated to the company’s flagship fire alarm platform.

The Simplex 4100U BMUX (basic multiplex unit) replacement technology can advance Simplex 2120 fire alarm systems installed over 20 years ago to today’s leading-edge platform -- simply by replacing the head-end control panel. The ease of installation means a Simplex 4100U BMUX migration can be completed quickly and affordably. Thousands of customers with Simplex 2120 systems can gain the benefits of the latest Simplex fire alarm technology, yet avoid the high costs and business disruption of a total system replacement.

SimplexGrinnell is highlighting the Simplex 4100U migration technology as part of its “History of Forward Thinking” theme at this week’s NFPA World Safety Conference & Exposition in Boston.

“The BMUX replacement technology is the latest in a series of migration products that allow longtime SimplexGrinnell customers to leverage our most advanced technology and prepare for future growth and expansion – all while maximizing the value of their existing fire alarm infrastructure investments,” says John Haynes, Director of Product Marketing. “The end result is a cost-effective migration solution that can improve overall protection, preserve existing system investments, reduce the life-cycle cost of ownership, and help avoid product obsolescence.”

Migration Made Easy
The Simplex 4100U BMUX replacement technology greatly simplifies the migration process. The existing back box, wiring, transponder panels and peripheral devices remain intact, so there is no need to touch the walls or rip out the old Simplex 2120 system. SimplexGrinnell simply replaces the central processing unit and mounts a Simplex 4100U system in the existing cabinet. Once the system update is in place, customers can proceed on a migration timeline for the remaining Simplex 2120 panels and peripherals that suits their budget and schedule. The migration technology also has the advantage of being forward and backward compatible with current and future Simplex fire alarm products.

The Leading-Edge Simplex 4100U Platform
Highly capable and extremely flexible, the Simplex 4100U platform features superior peer-to-peer network survivability, Internet connectivity and global addressability. It is built with a system architecture that delivers advanced capabilities and supports easy-to-implement legacy updates, thereby giving SimplexGrinnell distinctive ability within the industry to provide affordable, phased migration solutions. The modular Simplex 4100U platform enables customers to buy what’s required today and then scale their system as needs evolve. The addition of new or updated panels, network nodes or peripheral devices can be accomplished quickly and easily.
